A Ledbury woman is finishing other people’s knitting projects to raise funds for Ukraine.
Wendy Hill is ready to take on all types of knitting challenges - and asks only for a donation in return.
The experienced knitter started making items to be sent directly to Ukraine before hitting on the idea of helping Ledbury residents with their own projects.
“I’ve done a lot of knitting for charity,” she said. “These days children and young adults don’t want to wear home made, knitted clothes but refugees are grateful for them.

“I’d been making a lot of jumpers and scarves and dropping them into a shop here in Ledbury to be sent over to Ukraine, but it’s kind of anonymous and difficult to picture the person wearing it.
“But I also enjoy finishing off projects that people have started, or solving the problem that has stopped them doing it.”
“I mentioned this to the people at the U3A knitting group I attend and word has spread. I really would like more to do - I always have a knitting project on the go and it’s nice to have something in the pipeline.”
Wendy has already completed a number of projects and raised more than £100 for the Ukraine Emergency Appeal, but wants to raise much more.
“I’m doing a lady’s jumper at the moment,” she said. “I’ve done a little girl’s dress, a boy’s jumper, a scarf and I knitted 84 squares to be made into blankets for old people.
“I’m quite an experienced knitter and I’m ready to take on anything really. I’ve been knitting since I was a little girl and am always knitting something, I enjoy it so much.
“If anyone has an unfinished knitting project that needs completing, I’d be happy to complete it free of charge.
“People can ring me up and either bring it to my house or I’ll come and collect it. I’ll then be in touch when it’s finished and just ask for a donation to the appeal - the people I’ve helped so far have been quite generous.”
