Arizona Cardinals head coach Cliff Kingsbury spoke in favor of one of his teammates at the NFC West, after answering questions during his postgame press conference.
He had a message for everyone, including the NFL, in support of San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and an issue he’s having with the NFL right now because of the ball cap he wears on the side.
“I had to offer my support for Kyle Shanahan’s hat because I’ve seen they try to replace him,” he said postgame. “All I want to say is let my boy live.
“He’s been one of the most swaggy coaches on the sidelines his entire career… Kyle, I have you, dude.”
Shanahan, who is known for wearing a flat-brimmed ball cap on the side, is “beefy” with the NFL because the league won’t allow him to design his own hat and won’t even let him wear last season’s hat.
This year, the league offers camouflage-pattern caps for coaches and players.
He doesn’t like it, and Kingsbury isn’t a fan either.
“It’s not doing it,” he said. “If you’re in a deer blind in New Braunfels, Texas, you can pull it over, but not over the edge.”
That won’t change anything, but Kingsbury and Shanahan may be rivals when it comes to the gridiron, but they have each other’s backing when it comes to looking good.
